Picture

Welcome to the official website for Bellevue Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. My name is Dr. Shirley A. Jenkins, and it is an honor and privilege to serve as the 2024-2026 president of our illustrious chapter. Bellevue Alumnae Chapter is the 800th chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., formed on January 28, 1989, seventy-six years after the founding of the first chapter on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC on January13, 1913 by twenty-two college educated women. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private non-profit organization, in which its founders wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and aid persons in need.

The goal of this chapter is to provide support to communities of color in King County and the greater Seattle area. We serve communities on the east side of Lake Washington, as far North as Bothell and as far south as Auburn and Federal Way. We also lend support to our sister chapters, the Seattle Alumnae Chapter, and the Tacoma Alumnae Chapter. We are committed to public service and to the constructive development of its more than 350,000 members. We continue to align and implement programs, projects, and activities that encompasses each aspect of our organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust focusing on:
  • Economic Development
  • Education Development
  • International Awareness and Involvement
  • Physical and Mental Health
  • Political Awareness and Involvement
BAC is a sisterhood called to serve, committed to transforming lives, and positively impacting communities. Bellevue Alumnae Chapter has built a legacy of unwavering commitment to service within our designated service area of Bellevue, WA (King County) by focusing on scholarship, encouraging social action, maintaining staunch political involvement, and providing programs and services to meet community concerns.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website to learn about the remarkable things Bellevue Alumnae Chapter is doing in the community.   We invite you to check our website often for upcoming events and programs as well as follow us on Facebook.
Love and Sisterhood,

Dr. Shirley A Jenkins
