Dr. Shirley A. Jenkins
Chapter President, Bellevue Alumnae Chapter
Welcome to the official website of the Bellevue Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as President of this illustrious chapter for the 2024–2026 biennium. I am Dr. Shirley A. Jenkins, and I welcome you on behalf of our dedicated and service-driven sisterhood.
Bellevue Alumnae Chapter proudly holds the distinction of being the 800th chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Chartered on January 28, 1989, our chapter stands firmly on the shoulders of the twenty-two visionary women who founded our beloved sorority on January 13, 1913, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. From its inception, Delta Sigma Theta has been grounded in academic excellence, collective strength, and a steadfast commitment to uplifting communities in need.
Guided by the national biennium theme, One Delta. One Mission: Anchored in Legacy, Evolving with Intention, Bellevue Alumnae Chapter continues to advance purposeful, impactful service throughout King County and the greater Seattle area. Our service footprint extends across the east side of Lake Washington—from Bothell to Auburn and Federal Way—and is strengthened through collaborative support with our sister chapters, Seattle Alumnae and Tacoma Alumnae
.
Our chapter’s work is rooted in Delta Sigma Theta’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
• Economic Development
• Educational Development
• International Awareness and Involvement
• Physical and Mental Health
• Political Awareness and Involvement
Through these focus areas, Bellevue Alumnae Chapter remains steadfast in addressing critical community needs, fostering scholarship, encouraging civic engagement, and promoting advocacy and social action. We are a sisterhood called to serve—committed to transforming lives and creating meaningful, sustainable change.
Thank you for visiting our website and taking time to learn more about the impactful work of Bellevue Alumnae Chapter. We invite you to visit often to stay informed about our programs, initiatives, and upcoming events, and to connect with us on Facebook.
With love and sisterhood,
Dr. Shirley A. Jenkins
