Community Impact

Working alongside our community to create lasting impact, the members of the Bellevue Alumnae Chapter serve year-round to uplift, empower, and strengthen the communities we call home. Guided by Delta Sigma Theta’s mission and its Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, our work advances social, educational, economic, and political empowerment through purposeful service, advocacy, and partnership.

Through comprehensive public initiatives aligned with the National Organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, the Bellevue Alumnae Chapter remains committed to supporting, enhancing, and sustaining the systems that shape our communities and expand opportunity for those we serve.

Five-Point Programmatic Thrust

Economic Development

The Bellevue Alumnae Chapter advances economic development by supporting individuals and families during critical moments of need while intentionally building pathways toward long-term financial stability. Our work includes strengthening financial literacy using principles of financial fortitude, equipping individuals and families with tools to make informed decisions, manage resources effectively, and plan for the future.

Physical and Mental Health

Wellness isn’t just programming. It’s policy. It’s access. It’s advocacy.

The Bellevue Alumnae Chapter advances physical and mental wellness as both a public health priority and a social justice imperative. Rooted in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated’s Physical and Mental Health thrust, we promote whole-person wellness — mind, body, and spirit — through culturally responsive programming, strategic partnerships, and informed advocacy.

What We Do
We focus on three interconnected pillars:

  • Physical Activity & Heart Health — cardiovascular education, screenings, and prevention initiatives, including participation in the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign.

  • Brain Health & Chronic Disease Prevention — Alzheimer’s awareness, caregiver support, and early detection strategies for chronic conditions.

  • Mental & Emotional Wellness — workshops and forums addressing trauma, caregiving stress, grief, and midlife health.

Through community partnerships, including the annual MLK Jr. Health Fair, and through sustained advocacy efforts, we expand access to resources and support equitable health outcomes across the lifespan.

  • Participate in Delta Days at the State Capitol

  • Monitor local and state legislation
