Chartered on January 28, 1989, the Bellevue Alumnae Chapter became the 800th Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated – a milestone made possible through the dedication and collective effort of sixteen visionary sorors whose leadership established a lasting foundation of service, sisterhood, and social action.
Their work extended the bold vision first set forth on January 13, 1913, by twenty-two collegiate women on the campus of Howard University. With courage, scholarship, and an unwavering commitment to community uplift, those Founders ignited a movement that continues to shape lives and communities more than a century later.
For over three decades, Bellevue Alumnae has advanced that legacy across the Eastside of Lake Washington and throughout the greater Seattle region – strengthening families, empowering youth, advocating for equity, promoting economic advancement, and responding thoughtfully to the evolving needs of our communities.
Bound by sisterhood and guided by service, we remain anchored in Delta’s enduring principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and social action. Today, the Bellevue Alumnae Chapter continues to live the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated through service, advocacy, and collaboration – honoring the work of those who came before while remaining responsive to the needs of the present and future.
Together, we are sorors and sisters – resilient inn purpose, unified in mission, and steadfast in our commitment to build stronger communities with excellence and intention. We serve not simply as volunteers, but as committed partners in progress – working alongside neighbors, faith-institutions, civic leaders, and our sister chapters to create lasting impact across the region.
As One Delta, united in purpose we move forward guided by a shared vision – anchored in legacy and evolving with intention.
